CE in Belize 2013
July 1 - 5, 2013
Ambergris Caye, Belize
16 Hours of COPE Approved CE While Enjoying a Caribbean Vacation

A wise traveler to this island getaway aptly captured the atmosphere of Ambergris Caye with
“no shoes, no shirt, no problem.”

Ambergris Caye encourages visitors to kick off their shoes and just relax. At 36 miles long, Ambergris is the largest of the cayes in Belize. Located in the northern-most waters of the country, three-quarters of a mile west of the Belize Barrier Reef, the island is surrounded by prominent dive and snorkel sites, including the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. The largest town on Ambergris Caye is San Pedro with a population of about 9,000. Renowned for its barefoot lifestyle and island vacation appeal, the primary mode of transportation on the town’s cobblestone streets are via golf carts. In the town and along the beaches to the north and south, visitors will find an eclectic blend of restaurants, shops, funky bars, a host of boutique hotels and numerous condominium complexes. The busiest of Belize’s visitor destinations, San Pedro retains its relaxed atmosphere and remains far from the glitz and noise of a city.

Fulfill your need for quality continuing education with up to 16 hours of COPE approved lectures, and take the vacation you deserve.

Classes of 4 hours each day begin on Monday afternoon.  Lectures are held again Tuesday morning with the afternoon free. Join the group for snorkeling on a catamaran, take off on your own for a round of golf or just put your feet up in a hammock with a good book. Wednesday is a free day. This is a great day to visit one of the many Maya ruins, horseback ride through the rainforest or fish for fresh snapper on the reef. Classes begin again on Thursday afternoon and finish on Friday morning giving you the option to stay an extra weekend. We recommend a minimum of a Saturday to Saturday stay.

Take a look at what your colleagues are saying about the meeting:

"CE in Belize was fantastic! First you have the tropical paradise, then the more than accomadating course schedule, and finally expert speakers! Before the week was over, both my wife and I fell in love with San Pedro ... to the point that we are looking at second/retirement home there."
-Dr. Clifton Randle

"Thanks to all, this was a great meeting to have interaction with the lecturers and OD's on current optometric topics. Very imformative format and also a fun place to visit. Look forward to a return trip in the future."
-Dr. Fred Turpin

"Definitely one of the better if not the best CE we've ever attended. Thanks for organizing an engaging and interactive format."
-Dr. Melanie Truong & Dr. Steven Le

"How many continuing education seminars have you ever been to in the same sterile, suburban hotel lecture hall, that, however informative the lecture may have been, the setting made it a drudgery chore? Not so in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, where COPE approved "CE in Belize" is held each year. At those same boring lectures w
ere you able to wear casual tropical attire, sandals, or in some cases where the lecturers went barefoot?! Were you able to walk to your room with a view of the Caribbean Sea along the way, realizing that your class schedule is comfortable and not so frantic as to not be able to do all the island activities you wish to explore - such as diving the world's second largest coral reef? This was my second year attending
and I can't wait to return. I think most of my classmates will be 'regulars' as well."
-Dr. Michael Baughan
